Dr. Jay Pinckney is the Director of the Estuarine Ecology Lab at the University of South Carolina.  He is also a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and the Marine Science Program at USC in Columbia, SC. Estuarine and coastal studies form the core of research activities performed by Dr. Pinckney.  General areas of interest include marine ecology, microbial ecology, microalgal ecophysiology, phytoplankton-nutrient interactions, harmful algal blooms, and ecosystem eutrophication in estuarine and coastal habitats.
